More than just a line on the map: Walking and writing workshops
14-15 March 2026
Have you always wanted to write about where you live, but unsure where to start? Have you ever wondered about how the rivers and coastline of Aberystwyth have changed over time?
How can we ‘read’ and ‘write’ the Aberystwyth landscape? What inspiration can we find in its changing environment?
Join writers, artists and geographers on creative walks and workshops to explore Aberystwyth’s changing river and coastal landscapes and start a new writing journey.
You can choose to come along either on Saturday 14 March or Sunday 15 March or both days – and you can either join for the whole eight hours or come and go as you please. Scroll down for further details of the day’s itinerary.
No previous writing experience is necessary and everyone is welcome, including children accompanied by parents or guardians.
Places are free of charge but please register by emailing hmg@aber.ac.uk by the end of Wednesday 11 March, noting any dietary or accessibility requirements
Appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable footwear will be needed.
‘More than a line on the map’ is part of a wider programme of activities being organised during February and March 2026 to celebrate Aberystwyth Ceredigion’s recognition as Wales’s first Dinas Llên / City of Literature. Further details about the University’s events during March are listed here and you can find out more about the Dinas Llên partnership on their website.
